Kevin Alexander Boon is an award-winning filmmaker and screenwriter, a produced playwright, a film scholar, and a staunch
advocate for community filmmaking.
He has degrees in music and psychology and holds a doctorate of English from the University of South Florida. He currently
teaches writing, film, and literature at Penn State, where he founded The Mont Alto Film Project and the Open Keg Film Project,
both ventures in community filmmaking.
Kevin is the author of a number of books, including Script Culture and the American Screenplay (Wayne State), the definitive
book on the screenplay as literature, and numerous scholarly articles on the works of Quentin Tarantino, John Huston, Oliver
Stone, David Mamet, John Carpenter, and others.
Kevin's second feature film (Ghosting) was released through Random Media and The Orchard (a division of Sony) in October
of 2016, the same year his screenplay, An Unmarked Grave, took first place for horror in the ISA screenplay competition. Kevin
is also an award-winning poet and short-story writer. He was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2011 for his short story The
Angels of Marie Fontaine, and has won numerous awards for his feature films. His most recent film is the crime-thriller A
Host of Sparrows.
